I like to think that most voters are aware of those sorts of fabrications, but I'm also forced by cynicism to believe that in spite of that voters simply lack the will to investigate these untruths thoroughly. Instead, voters simply vote for the politician who tells the "right lies", if you will - the ones that, if true, would be most troubling to them. Argh, my words are failing me, but do you see what I'm getting at?
