Flag burning
Guess what? The flag-burning amendment is back! And this time it might actually pass! Next step: an amendment against criticizing the government. Hold on to your civil liberties while you got 'em, folks!
Oh God! I heard about this, and cringed. Whatever happened to the Constitution explicitly extending rights, rather than restricting them? I can see Amendment 29 now: "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength."
I think the Republicans are being too soft here. If they really want to make things hard on the Democrats, they should force a vote on an amendment banning sodomizing the American flag while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance without the phrase "Under God" while watching a Michael Moore movie.
