A Campaign I Can Get Behind

So who's going to be nominated to replace O'Connor on the Supreme Court? Personally, I think the President should listen closely to Richard Cohen and Kurt Vonnegut (second item down) and see what judicial luminaries lie unappreciated by the groups concerned with this nomination...

Man, this woulda made a great Slant article.

Careful what you wish for... if it becomes pseudoserious to discuss telejudges for the Supreme Court, I think the guy from Texas Justice would fit this administration (both idealogically and in demeanor) quite a bit better.

P.S. Having never seen Texas Justice, I'm making the assumption that the judge fits a stereotype suggested by the show's title; I doubt they would have named it that if the court was presided upon by the honorable Tommy Chong, for example.

She wouldn't be the first Jewish Justice if nominated, would she?

Barzelay - fucking moron or not now, he still wrote Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse-Five, two of the best books in the history of time.

Mike - Ginsburg and Brandeis have her beat.

Pierce - According to Slate, Judge Doherty (of Texas Justice) is the most liberal of the bunch. But yeah, he has a cowboy hat and he rides horseback through the opening sequence. And, presumably, into the courtroom. Which would be an awesome addition to the Supreme Court, in my opinion. (Though, perhaps, he should ride in on the back of Antonin Scalia instead.)

Jeff: that's odd... it would seem that getting a [relatively] liberal judge for a show called "Texas Justice" would alienate most of the demographic that would watch a show like that in the first place.

I figured Ginsburg but wasn't sure, and didn't want to make assumptions based on last name.

Also, I can safely say, as a "Texan" now, that a cowboy hat is pretty much all you need to get the desired demographic.
