Excellence

Television: $200.
Basic/standard cable: $60/mo.
Watching Jon Stewart serve a Twinkie to the president of Pakistan: priceless.

Also, watching the Cardinals blow an 8.5 game lead over the Astros and a 7.5 game lead over the Reds, in the process making the NL Central race actually interesting: equally priceless.

Incidentally, if anyone out there knows why the Cardinals are apparently only playing 161 games this year, let me know.

As a Cardinal hater first and an Astro fan second, this collapse is indeed priceless; however, in order to avoid catastrophic karma adjustment, I must remain in the commentor protection program.

I have three guesses as to who the previous commenter was, and the first two don't count, but I'll allow him to retain his anonymity, because I'm generous like that.

As far as I'm concerned, I will get behind any team that has a chance of preventing this from being another Subway Series.

How goeth the carlessness?

Congratulations, "anonymous poster." If I ever get around to recording an album of my songs, you have just named it: "Catastrophic Karma Adjustment."

In response to the last part of the post, the Cards will likely play all 162. They had a rainout against the Giants rescheduled for the day after the season should it have playoff implications. A week or so ago the game was not likely to me made up, but things change in a hurry.
