The Picture That Lived

The Slant might be a shadow of its former self nowadays, but it's good to know that one of the funnier things we ran is still cruising the Intertubes (even if I had to do some rumorbusting regarding the pic having been taken at Matthew Shepard's funeral). This picture is almost six years old, and it's still out there. That's pretty awesome. I wish I could say the same for my Missy Elliott song analysis.

Are you either of the people in that picture? It occurs to me that I would have no way of knowing.

No, Jeff's not either person. I was in a play with the guy on the left. Jeff, this is very cool. You should see The Slant these days. Still same layout, still pretty good quality (sample articles in most recent issue: "Barack Obama Found to Have Normal Sized Penis", "Top Ten Things That Have Happened Since the Cubs Won the World Series"). Also, my name is still listed under Editors Emeritus (but not twice), which is ridiculously cool. By the way, we really wish you were here.

As Mike said, The Slant (print edition) is still surprisingly good. My favorite headline: "Palin Opposes Early Withdrawal."

Definitely missed you at the reunion. But pictures like that warm my heart. The Slant Forever!

Out of random curiosity, which commenter were you?

Ben, you can find him under "Jeff". Search for "Vanderbilt". Incidentally, Jeff, you weren't the first one to point it out, though - sorry. Also, later commenters give a shoutout to The Slant.

According to Tim Boyd, last year's Slants was pretty bad, but this year's gotten a lot better. I liked what I saw, but still think we were better (of course). Plus, one undergrad Ben and I talked to said, after Ben revealed our status as founders, "Oh, you mean back when it was funny?" So that made me feel warm and fuzzy.
