...And We Can All Ignore Soccer Again

Shit.

Oh well. The U.S. didn't play well enough to deserve the win (though Ghana didn't deserve a win either - their second goal was a gift from the refs). Same old problem - crap finishing. Eddie Johnson probably should have been in there earlier. And somebody send out a search party to find Landon Donovan - I think a crappy soccer player kidnapped him and stole his identity. Props to Beasley and Dempsey for that sweet goal too.

So who should I root for in the next round? The team named by the majority of commenters gets my allegiance.

To repeat: shit.

Root for Germany to get to the semi's only. If they don't make the finals then Klinsmann won't be back with the team and the US is going to make a strong push for him. His attacking style and experiance would be great for this team. Other then that, you should root for Netherlands or Argentina. Netherlands cause they're usually a good team that doesn't cheat and doesn't seem to dive much. Argentina cause they are as much fun to watch as Brasil and would make for a great final no matter who they play.

Teams to root against.

Brasil- it gets old watching the same team play in the final, even if they don't win every time.

England- Always thinking they are THE soccer country and never win anything. Blah

Italy- great team but dive and look for calls too much. Buffon is a fun goalie to watch though, he should be the only one allowed to dive.

France- boring boring boring. For having the best goal scorer in the world and the former best player n the world they are such and I I I team.

Mexico- one of the dirtest teams out there. Anyone remember the player who fell to the ground holding his face when a US player tossed him a ball for a corner kick and it hit his leg last world cup. HAHHAHAHAHA

Spain- no matter who they play and how many scores they have it always seems like a boring game. Maybe its the uniforms.

Well, there it is

I'm rooting for the Netherlands, because one of my oldest friends is Dutch. But obviously, I can't offer nearly as much in depth analysis and explanation as Pork Boy.

I'm rooting for the Netherlands so hard, I had to post it twice. So my vote counts twice! (Actually, for some reason, when I came back, my first comment didn't show up -- except that it was in this "Post a Comment" window, so I just copied it. Which is weird. And totally beside the point.)
